Where is everybody?
Where is help?
Where is the protection? Who can stop Boko Haram from killing and abducting
children? The answer to that is there is no help or protection, and no one is
doing anything about it. To read in an article no one is shocked of the
abduction of 230 school girls is horrid. Boko Haram stands for ‘Western
Education is a Sin’. The group has also kidnapped extreme amounts of women and
children, in the first three months of them being a terrorist group they killed
1,500 people. Nigerians compared their president to ours in this article. They
talk about when the Boston Massacre happened Obama went to Boston and talked to the people. He assured
them that we would get through this together and make our country a better
place. In Nigeria
the President hasn’t visited the land recently. Children and women are being
tormented, children forced to join the terrorist groups and almost dehumanized,
and the president has nothing to say. So where is the army? The army pretty
much threw in the towel. But, they are assuring themselves it is okay because
when children are forced to join the terrorist group, forced to rape and hurt
others they are rarely killed.
Children then, get
brain washed into believing what they are doing is for a good cause. Then they
grow up to become the leaders of the group. It is a vicious cycle that may
never end. This is why the terrorist will never stop. The children do not and
will not know any better. In the book A Long Way Gone Ishmael was forced to
join the army group. He knew what he was doing was wrong at first but then,
when he got power he started performing the evil acts he was always afraid of
from the terrorist groups. He said he had only one thought and it was to kill
or be killed. That was the mindset of every child. What is very frightening is
that now, in Nigeria
all hope is gone. Day by day, the Nigerian people are almost waiting to be
killed. There is no protection. Their world is slowly dying a painful death and
all we as Americans can do is sit and read about it. All we can do is scroll
through Twitter and see the latest news update, maybe even tweet about how sad
it is and how the world is falling apart. The innocence of children in the
picture below is now lost and never to be found again.

Why hasn't the president visited? Why do they not care? I understand that they are fearful for the consequences that may happen, but to not even make an effort? What about these children that may never be the same. They are in need. No one is there for them in this crucial time. How do we prevent our world from falling apart?
ReplyDeleteAs it is Things Fall Apart, change only occurs when a wave of human determination arises. The entire nation of Iboland was turned upside down by a small group of convicted Christian missionaries bent on change. Whatever is their intentions,it is clear that when large groups of people stand together, they can make a difference. It is time for us to make adifference. The Nigerian presient may feel as if going down there would be pointless, because he would be alone in a way.He has no guarantee that there will be a global response to a problem that is a global one.It is good that the Western public is outraged. But until we turn that outrage into a voice in our governments ear,we will not see change.
